Loaches not Eating & Killing Tankmates

My clown loaches have stopped eating bottom feeder pellets for a week. I have no idea why. Today, the largest clown loach in the tank was swimming circles in the tank with his spines in the out position. Then the clown loach swam to the bottom of the tank near a group of platys feeding on an uneaten pellet. The loach swam up to a platy and began hitting it with his spines. The platy died. The loach did not eat the platy, but proceeded to rest its head on it. When I removed the dead platy I noticed that other live bearers were missing as well. Has this happened to anyone else? What could have caused the loaches to act this way?

Thank You
