While at our local fishstore, we found a single loach swimming in terror amongst a tank filled with tetras. We felt really bad for him as he looked scared--and we also needed a bottom feeder so we rescued the little devil. He's a wonderful little guy--my only regret is he was the last so he can't school, but he's far happier here in our planted 12-gallon in the company of an unusually mellow betta, several killifish, a pleco, and two pygmy algae eaters than that empty 10-gallon with hundreds of tetras.
He appears to be a Dwarf loach alright (they even had his scientific name right), but what is this thing about him being a threatened species? Isn't it illegal for a store to sell an animal that is endangered?
