Extremely shy clowns - is this normal?

Hi. I bought a couple of clowns for my community aquarium about five months ago, but one died a few weeks after I got him (never worked out why), so I bought three more to keep the remaining one company. For a while, they were quite happy, although very shy.

About three months ago, my pair of Kribs had a fairly large brood, and the little Kriblets eventually disrupted the tank quite a bit. The clowns didn't seem to like having 30+ Kribs in the tank. Last weekend, I finally took the now-not-so-little Kriblets to my LFS. Problem is, the clowns now won't come out and play. If they see me outside the tank, even if I'm completely still, they'll swim away to their cave. They only come out one at a time, and then only until they see me before hiding again.
