going to SE Asia, what can I bring back?

Planning to visit hong kong, singapore/malaysia & indonesia

Correct me if I'm wrong, but anything alive is prohibited (plants, moss, shrimps, fish, etc)

How about Malaysian driftwoods, etc?
I'm really tempted to bring some ADA soil & gravel... but I don't think it's worth to pay the overweight charge

Anyone care to share their experience with US customs?

Would it show on the X-RAY machine if I put some baby shrimps inside a water bottle? ;)
