Hi Webbie. Suitability of tank size depends on the size of the Clowns. Up to about 2", 3 Clowns should do OK in a well filtered, established tank of the size you have. This is dependant on exactly HOW many other fish you have of couse.

Ideally, for the future, the 42 gallon tank will be far better. The Clowns could easily get a lot bigger and this size tank will give them the room they need to grow and prosper.
