Clown loach skin problem? *PIC*

I've had a trio of medium-sized clown loaches in my 40 gallon for almost a year now. Their color has always been pretty good, the tank is stable, and they seem happy.

A few months ago, I noticed that my largest (and yellowest) clown was starting to develop litte spots. They weren't ick, and they didn't look like velvet. Instead, they are brown and looked almost exactly like human freckles. I worried for a bit but I thought I would keep an eye on them and see what they developed into before taking any action. I also found a post somewhere saying that little "melanin" spots like these weren't totally unheard-of on clown loaches.
