Changing substrate

I'm changing substrate for my tank. Currently I have a lava rock which is sharp and raises the ph. Not cool for my loaches! I have received my new substrate (seachem flourite) and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on how to minimize stress on my loaches during the move. Here's what I had in mind.

.) Go to petsmart and get some of their bags.
.) Drain 3/4 and net loaches
.) Put them into bags with their current water conditions
.) Put sealed bags into hospital tank to help maintain temperature
.) Remove lava rock
.) Add Flourite
.) Take tank from 1/4 full to 4/4 full guestimating temperature
.) Take sealed fish from hospi
