Jim and Martin - blanched kale?

I'm trying to get my river tank guests to partake of blanced kale with little or no success. Any secrets you can share? I only dipped the kale in boiling water until the colour changed, then wrapped it around a small stone and sunk it. No takers...
What would you do?
