Botia Striata

I have a question about the ages of striatas in the LFS. I first purchased three about 3 months ago, they were about 2.5 inches long. I then found another 2 in another LFS, they were about 1.5 inches. Yesterday I saw a tank full of real small ones about 1 inch long. I had to buy one. You know how it is. From what I understand is that they cannot breed in captivity. I believe they get them from the Far East and usually they are caught in February. My question is how old would you guess the different size striatas would be?
