Sick clown?

I had a pair of clown loaches and one suddenly died. I replaced him with a new clown and over the course of the last two weeks, the remaining original one has grown increasingly thinner and has lost a lot of coloration in his fins. He has seemed completely indifferent to the introduction of the new one. He has continued to eat, but today has begun hiding in a cave, which he has never done before. The water quality is fine and none of the other fish (a pair of yoyo's, a dojo, and a sunset gourami) bother him. Any thoughts?
