melafix respondees and summary

Thanks to all of you who responded to my questions about melafix. The details provided were helpful and this is a summary of what i understood....if anyone cares to correct any misunderstandings that would be useful:

1. all but one report (that of the angel) regarded use of melafix in injury situations rather than severe bacterial infections.

2. in the injury situations, my recollection is that everyone also was keeping the water extra clean.

3. most of the water situations were acidic but one was alkaline.

it is hard to draw the conclusion, imo, that melafix is the deciding factor in increased fin regeneration given the fact that water cleanliness was also being attended to. i'm inclined to that notion due to my own experience of injury situations where no melafix was used and fin regeneration was quick with clean water.

i do think it may act as a protective agent in some fashion but, to me, it is unclear exactly what that action is; however, because of the angel situation, i am unable to say that melafix doesn't have anti-something properties. :)

i am remaining curious as to my unanswered question in the previous thread: would any of you (or anyone else) use it if you saw a serious bacterial problem: flexibacter for example....which, in some ways, is what the angel situation sounds somewhat like...melted fins if i remember correctly.

does my reasoning seem accurate or have i made errors?
