Kubotai flashing

Any reason a young (new) B. kubotai should be flashing? He's not doing it a lot, but more that his tank mates. He's in with three clowns and a histrionica, among the dithers and otos.
Ammonia, nitrites at 0, nitrates very very low, neutral ph...
As I say, he's not doing it enough that I'm losing sleep, but something's bugging him. No apparent skin problems, big appetite, chases the histie around...
Is there something I don't know about these little fellows?
