hiding clown loaches.

My clown loaches hide in this kind of circular cave. I see them after the lights are out sometimes and that is all. When I clean the tank one still stays in the ornament and always ends up in the pail because I take it out when cleaning. It's really frustrating. Every one else talks about how active and fun they are to watch and I never see mine. My water is: nitrite 0, ammonia 0, temp 77, ph 7.2. I was thinking that this ornament is just too inviting for them and I should take it out. What's up with my loaches??
