OT loachy filtration

I've been thinking of adding a uv sterilzer to 70 gal loach rainbow tank for the usual reasons. But since I need to run a powerhead to run it I've been thinking why not add a filter inline with it.
here's my Idea use 4" pvc pipe 20 inches long with
screw on endcaps with silicone seals filled with a foam stage then bio rings of some sort then fine floss pad then output to uv filter then back in tank. All the pvc parts can be had home depot for cheap, the most pricey part is the bio media.
Kinda like an canister setup with an external pump..
Whatcha think?
