Carbonate Hardness

I have a 75 gal.tank with Clown Loaches. Our water in this area is very hard (about 260ppm).
I decided to check the hardness in the tank because I was doing a neon tank and just had the test kit in hand. Much to my surprise, the 75 gal. tested 53ppm (carbonate hardness)! Ph was 7.0

I do not use any additives in the tank except for Chlorine remover.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?
