Roxie: As far as I.D. goes, I do not find it hard to distinguish Striata from other Botia. There are some pics on my putt-putt wepage if you want to study:)

As far as mail order, that would be an absolute LAST RESORT for me, as the shipping will run you more that a school of fish will. Striata are relatively common as Loaches go, so have a good look around, and ask stores if they are on their wholesalers "Fishlist". I'm not sure how many hoops they would make you jump through at the border(It may be worth checking with customs to see what kind of paperwork is required to get them across the border), but if you are in
