no power 12 hours and all OK

Wow, I never thought we'd come through a 12-hour power outage with smiles on our faces. We're in the metro DC area and lost power during the hurricane last night. I had always assumed we could run our main loach tank off our computer's power backup-unit. Wrong -- it started smoking then died shortly after hooking up a filter and bubble stone. This is the tank with my clowns, kuhlies, a huge pleco and other favorites. We had no choice but to stir the water and wait, and wait. Somehow, everything came out OK. The snails in our filters acted as canaries -- they were alive, so we figured the filters would be OK. Otherwise, we'd have been starting over, depending on the biotics in the gravel. We weren't so worried about our other tanks because they are vastly "understocked." Hope everyone else came out OK.
