Modestas in FAMA!

There's a really good article in the August issue of Freshwater and Marine Aquarium magazine on Botia modesta, one of my most favorite loaches! Although largely nothing new to most of us here, it is quite well written. I did find it interesting to learn that the streams and rivers of Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam where they're found range between pH 6.0-8.0. I suppose that's one reason they're so adaptable. Also, if you didn't know exactly when they migrate, they migrate upstream from December to April to breed then move back downstream from July to August. Some are even wild caught the same way as some clown loaches are - the old bamboo with holes in it trick!
