Do loach whiskers grow back?

Concerning the new clown I got (well, a week ago). The clown doesn't eat and hides all day. But just now I was watching my new zipper-like loaches, when I noticed that the new clown has no whiskers! I'm 98% certain this didn't happen in my tank, since all my other loaches are fine and haven't ever lost a whisker.
I know loaches use their whiskers to find food, so is this why the clown hid and has not eaten since I gotten him?
And will the whiskers grow back?
