Sick Loach?

my oldest Clown Loach (of four in a community tank) has taken to lying on the bottom on his/her side a if ill (I know they do this usually, but this time it's different).
He/She has lost all appetite, where before would come to feed from hand at any opportunity.
No external markings, body still good all over, eyes bright etc.....
We did let water quality fall badly just recently due to a mix up of operations, but all other fish fine and quality now restored.
Fish is somewhere around 6/7 years old and approx 170mm long by 60mm deep (belly to base of dorsal)

Could this just be old age?
The other younger loaches keep coming round and propping the big one up or so it seems.

Any ideas welcome,
Jo Sermon
