Hey folks - here's a sorry tail,

Checking my tank in the morning and found some very odd Kuhli behaviour. All 5 of them in the lowest point of the tank trying to burrow deeper into rocks they'd never get into. More oddly was the black neon tetras and zebras very lethargic in the bottom inch of water - only the clowns and the algae eaters seemed ok.

I was trying to weigh up several possibilities - water quality/pH/infection when I realised I could feel the heat coming off the front of the aquarium. To my horror, the temperature was off the scale of my thermometer (which goes to 45 degrees C - the tank normally sits at 26 degrees C).

I ripped the heater out and left the tank all day without heating - I didn't add cold water as the shock of changing the temp rapidly down would shock and stress the fish even more. After leaving it to cool all day I came back after work to find 4 dead black neons and a kuhli who'd got so stress
