I get my new tank on wednesday..I want to get the substrate that best suits my loaches. At the moment I have smooth gravel.not sharp but not ideal. Every one says this should be sand..but which type..silica sand?..ideally i would like to grow real plants as well..does sand really cause problems with plants routing? and anerobic pockets?..Is a mixture of sand and fine gravel the best option?
