Melafix and Oxygen

As I just noted, the Melafix treatment worked like a charm on my tank. Last night was my last treatment (knock on wood).

On thing I definitely noticed is that since Melafix's active ingredient is an oil, it would spread on the surface and eventually disappear. But another thing I noticed, and last night was when I pieced it together, is that Melafix, presumably by inhibiting the gas exchange by creating a film at the surface, has undeniably lowered the oxygen levels in my tank. It is a deep tank, and I do use an airstone, and I have never had a problem before usuing Melafix.

Forewarned is forearmed.
