Plant Question

I noticed someone posted a messake RE their Clowns biting holes in their plants. One of the reasons my Pothos was fried after 8 months was a number of holes in the CENTERS of the leaves. I replaced the Pothos with some new, very healthy pieces, and within two days I had more holes at the center of the leaves. I know plants will tend to do this if very short on nutrients, over time, but after two days with very strong/healthy Pothos?

So are my finned friends the culprits? If so, as I always say, after 20 yeras I learn something new! I have had plants before, but the fish always ate off the EDGES of the leaves, not holes in the centers! Comments? Greg
