Blue Crawdads and Clowns?

I was at lfs that I had never been to today and I saw these 3 inch long blue crawdads. They were apparently keeping the tanks very clean by eating the fish crap which I noticed. I have read on a link from here that You shouldn't have more than one in a tank cuz they kill eachother, but how about attacking clowns? Mine sleep at the bottom of the tank on their sides which also makes them very vulnerable. Will the clowns tach one to stay away or will the crab be the victor?
