Feeding large (8"+) fish

This question is for all of you who keep large fish (loaches included).

What on earth do you feed fish at that size?

I can't imagine that a diet of flake and frozen bloodworm (in standard LFS sizes) would be at all ecomonical. What do you feed your monsters?

I raise live food to supplement my fishes diet (mosquito larvae, worms soon) but not enough to regularly feed a tank of big fish. Should I plan on a daily routine of worm farming when my fish have grown?

I'm curious to see what you guys do.
