Hillstream loach - water parameters

I tested the tank in the evening and the results are as follows:

PH 7.6
GH - 5 (100 mg/l)
KH - 115 mg/l

My tank also has several plants in it which I have read have an effect on the chemical balance of the water.

My PH seems higher when tested in the morning. The other day it read around 7.8 to 8.0 although that was with a different test kit.

What are the best parameters for a hillstream loach? I read that slightly acidic soft water is best?

And how best should I prepare water when making water changes?
