'Botia' in Farsi

One of my Farsi speaking patients was in today so I asked him how Botia would be pronounced. I explained to him about Kerman (which is pronounced 'care-mon' with a slight roll to the 'r'). He says it should be pronounced with a long 'o' but not as long as the 'o' in bowtie. And then tee-a (short a).

He's been to Kerman. He says that in different parts of Iran pronunciations are somewhat varied so there is a possibility that the word may also be pronounced 'bahshia' based only on the speculative English spelling. If the word would be written in the native language then there wouldn't be any problem with pronounciation.
