Potted the Pothos.

I did the Pothos. I bought a very bushy one at Target. I wrapped the powerhead risers and set a few pieces into my vortex skimmer at the powerfilter, floating at the top. We will see- if I have ANY algae in 4 months, into the dumpster the plant goes!

I had to euthanize one of my Swords. The old grand dame of the tank. I got her about 2.5 years ago, and she was probably about a year old then. She was so old she had gotten "hunchbacked"!

As with my other fish, I never lose any to disease. BUT, when fish get very old, they are like people- they get all types of diseases the other fish don't. She had a fungal infection on her fins, and with the hunchback she was having problems swimming. It definitely looked as if she had severe arthritis! Goodbye!

People never talk about this, but good methods of euthanasia are needed. My tank sits in front of a pass-through into the kitchen. When it is time, I net the small fish out and pop them into the running sink-disposal.

Sound gross? I figure the death is so instantaneous there is no pain, they die in about 1/10 of a second. I can do it more easily than I used to- my fish have a great life while here, but I get rid of them when they are so old they begin to really suffer. In nature they would become prey when they get old, this is the law of nature. GREG
