Clown loaches and pH

I've seen the messages about the general pH that clown loaches can tolerate.

I'd like to report my findings here.

My tap water is literally liquid rock, KH and GH are out of this world (18 deg, 22 deg respectively). My pH hovers around 8.0, with CO2 injection for my plants.

You can keep clowns in this type of water, you just have to be very careful about conditioning them to the water.

Personally, each one I get spends well over an hour in a large container. I first fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of tank water, into which I float the bag from the LFS. I leave the bag for 15 minutes. I add 32 ounces of water each 5 minutes to allow the temp to stabilize. This takes up the first half hour.
