OH No, the sids are worse than clowns!

I brought home a lovely snail today from work. It is just over an inch across its shell. Ive read here so many times that the larger snails tend to be safe from loaches. WELL...... Not my sids and their pointy little loach noses. It's a good thing that I went in 5 mins. after putting it in the tank, one sid had its whole head in the shell!!!!!! The poor little snail was so far back in the shell, I couldn't see him. The corys are circling like sharks at a chum drop, the sids are merrily loachy dancing away, and I am in an uproar. Now I have this poor snail in a little box, he is at the end of his shell, I can see him now, but he wont come out. The only thing I can see it that the sids literally scared the crap outta him, the tank is looking green. I hope he doesn't die, now I know that I cannot have snails in either tank, no matter how big they are. Next time I'll put a trapdoor snail in there. Maybe if they get their noses pinched a time or 2, they'll learn.
