poor clown

I knew I should have fixed my intake filter tube earlier...it was just the open-ended tube. I noticed trickle was nearly nothing, and I found my clown stuck in there. I thought he was dead. I went to shake it out into the garbage, but he was stuck. So I took it to the front porch and hit the piece he was stuck in on the cement, he came out. I touched it with something, and he jumped about 4 inches, which nearly caused what my kids would call a "Charmin Moment." I put him back in the tank, and he swam quite well. He looks a littled chewed up and tired. I ran and baught some Melafix, thought that might help...Do I need to take out the carbon? any other suggested to help my poor little clown have a chance?
