Oxygen deficiency

The ongoing saga with Sid, my sick clown loach is that Im now thinking that it is gill damage that is the problem.

After talking to someone who had a similar experience, they thought that it was lack of oxygen that had changed the colouration of his clown loach - yellow colouring is dark brown and the usually red fins are also browny/black.

Sid has been this colour for the past 6+ months and has always had reddened gills but shows no sign of increased respiration - conversely, he is one of the last in the loach pack to react to adverse water conditions.

Im pretty sure him and his mate, bought at the same time, were second hand and he may have had a bad bout of ick before I bought him - both loaches have
