Decided to utilise part of my day off today cleaning cannister filters. I clean them in the bath and having previously watched helplessly as a baby Pseudogastromyzon cheni dissapeared down the plug-hole, I decided THIS time to put in the plug before I emptied the Fluval 203 cannister from the River-Tank.
Good move! There were about 20 fry in the filter. I THINK they are Liniparhomaloptera disparis, because I can't see any barring at this small size, whereas cheni tend to display markings. I had to run more water into the bath so that I could successfully net them out and put them back in the tank. They all dived for cover in the gravel.
Maybe I ought to put a sponge on the intake
