Camera considerations (slightly OT)

I'm thinking about purchasing a digicam within the next month or so. I'm tired of relying on a borrowed and basically entry-level camera. Natually, one of the primary uses for the camara would be that of taking fish pics as well as all-around usage.

I had gotten away from doing any kind of photograhy for many years but had used and learned with a professional type SLR in the photography courses that I took, way back when. For this reason I am attracted to the pro cameras but they are still very expensive in a digital version and my skills are very rusty anyway.

A compromise type camera, in order to ease back into photography, I'm thinking, would be in what they're calling the "prosumer" category. In this category, from the research that I've done so far, the Canon G2 sounds good or possibly the Nikon E5000 and there are a few others. Dave Guest has posted some really nice pics taken with a Fuji (right, Dave?) and others have also posted some beauties.

A built in hot-shoe for an auxilliary flash unit, I think would be important and I also like the remote control capabilities of the Canon and Nikon models mentioned. Thoughts, tips, or special fish/aquarium pic considerations that could/should influence my choice, anyone,? (keep in mind that if I buy the wrong camera, y'all might have to suffer with the results, when I post pics :p
