breeding behavior?

We have 7 loaches. Recently two of them have been occasionally "fighting", with faded color, (very aggressive actions, we've had them for years, none of this before) as soon as dominance is established the color returns (within seconds!)...could this be a mating fight?? Another has been "acting up" in a completely weird way (maybe a female in "heat"??) Any tips on breeding info links, info...anything? We have read about strange behavior prior to or during barometric change, but we're moving and the barometer is packed...we'll soon see if a storm is on the rise. On that note we may not respond quickly to any input...no offense, just moving for the first time in 12 years!!! Appreciate any input or ideas from fellow loach fans.
PS anyone had luck with slate rocks in the loach tank??
