Spoke with someone who spawned sids

I went to the Portland annual fish show this past weekend & spent some time with Al Castro, who used to be a director at Steinart Aq. in San Fran and has spawned about 500 species. He was there speaking on Killis, but we chatted about B. sidthimunki afterward.

He said that he had a small group of sids in a peaceful, moderately planted community tank that produces young. He said he wasnt trying, the young just appeared one day. He said the adult sids were only 2.5 to 3 inches long.

He said the water was moderately soft & acidic, had an undergravel filter, & it was a 29 gal tank. The other fish in the tanks were small and stayed mostly in the upper tank levels.

I havent been keeping up lately, so I dont know if this is new or interesting info or not. It is for me. I was particularly interested to find that sids of that size would spawn.
