We were browsing and buying at Home Depot today and I noticed lots of changes in their fluorescent lighting availability.

A couple of years ago they didn't even have 3 foot tubes. Today we found 2, 3, and 4 foot tubes with 8500K, 6500K, 5000K, 5100K, 4100K, 3000K....

When I got back into the hobby in a major way from end of 1996 to 1998, we couldn't even find tubes with the colour temperature rating listed on them. My cousin ended up putting hot (heat temperature wise) halogens on his 3 foot long 50 gallon tanks because 3 foot fixtures and 3 foot tubes were so expensive. He's out now but I'll be having some very interesting news for him when he gets back.
