eheim 2250 experience?

My yellow labs spawned again tonight, so that new tank is getting closer and closer! I plan to buy the filter first and let it mature in my current tank before I get the 125. I use an eheim 2213 in the 50g and think it's terrific, so I'll stick with eheim from now on. For a 125, I could use the 2217 which can handle 132g, but I'm tempted to get the next size up, the 2250, which will do up to 220g. Would the 2250 be overkill (in a negative way) or would it be the smart option given my tendency to overstock? :)
Are their disadvantages to more than necessary filtration? I've read that cloudy water can be the result...
Thanks for any advice
