My 38gal tank has been running for about five weeks. I have been watching the water quality... I didn't notice much of an ammonia spike (maybe because I have a biowheel?). I had a big nitrite spike which started about a week ago, but when I checked my water today nitrites did not register.

Does this mean that my cycle is complete? Ammonia is 0 and Nitrates are about 5ppm.

I had not expected the nitrites to drop so quickly, so I am wondering if I did something wrong...? I added water yesterday (only about 2gal to top the tank off), but besides that I have pretty much left the tank alone to cycle.

I just want to make sure that my cycle is complete before I add the loaches from my quarantine tank.

Any help would be appreciated!
