Given the rather tragic experience of one of the posters on this forum, I think we should put a table into the archives on which medications destroy the biological filter bacteria.

Can we start to compile a list....people who have experience with various antibiotics etc.?

I do know that any medication with formaldehyde/formalin will harm the bacteria.

Metronidazole - an antibiotic/anti-protozoan, does not seem to cause an ammonia spike.

Levamisole - no effect.

Sulpha drugs???

There's a lot of stuff out there and if we can put this info together, then people who feel the need to treat their fish with meds, can refer to the list and determine their course of action once these meds are in use. As in: don't feed the fish and do massive water changes for a while, then slowly increase feeding but maintain water changes until ammonia and
