do Banded Loaches lay on their sides

Are banded loaches known for laying on their sides like Clowns? Mine, who I thought was dying on me, is great now. He had a few days of just simply tipping over, laying there looking heavenward. He seemed to be breathing a bit heavy but I don't know if I was imagining it or not. He's swimming around, eating frozen brine shrimp like it's going out of style, and back to hiding in my plants - but no tipping over. Is this normal? Or at least as normal as loaches can be! I'm just wondering if I'm going to be subjected to this stress often. lol.
