yellow-tailed botia

I just got two 1 1/2" "Yellow-tailed" yesterday (as they were sold as) Botia and were wondering if they were b. lecontei or modesta, or are they just usually modesta? Do b. lecontei stay smaller than modesta? (If they were a smaller loach I would go back and get some more). Would the yellow tailed come from clearer waters, while the red finned from more murky sediment load filled waters?

They are shinier than red finned, with sort of a shiny gold line on top of their bodies, from the dorsal to the snout. A black spot at the base of the caudal fin, and faint bars when they are frightened.
