New... When do loaches get elderly?

I'm new so if this has been answerd before don't flame me, but I'm wondering how long do Clown's live? I'm asking this because I've got one about 4 years old with an attiude problem and will kill any new loaches that I add to the tank. I don't want to get rid of this one because he (I only call it a male for the sake of it) is around 7" and has a strange personality,
1. he has a favourite marble that it will throw around the tank floor for no reason.
2. Totally anti- social with other fish, and will eat any fish such as tetras etc.
3. Will reconise me and knows when his feed time is, and often get upset (by pacing the tank and spashing the top) if I'm late feeding him.

he has other quirks like showing off his spikes when new
