Gregarious Coolie Loaches

In the past I"ve kept 5 Coolies. They like very much to bunch up under a cave or something.

I'm planning to have a tank with about 20 Coolies, along with an inverted coconut shell and a ceramic castle with only 2 small doors that lead into its interior.

But I'm worried.

Since I won't have an undergravel filter, the areas inside these structures may grow stagnant from the continued actions of their gills upon the water. And since they like to bunch up upon one another, there is further cause for suffercation--especially those upon the bottom.

Should I be concerned that 20 Loaches may choke themselves out of existance because of the way they pile up in an enclosed space?
