I adore modestas, interesting loachies that they are, but I believe that's the first time I've ever heard of one being called "sweet." :-) I think mine would give me a "look" if I called them sweet. Now, the discus, they like being called sweet, but I digress...

How big is Roscoe? Just curious - I get the impression this is a big guy.

Mostly I've noticed that modestas are rambunctious. They like to play tag and circular chase and King of the Hill and other such games. They play rough and "fight" for dominance but in a large group (seven in my case) I've never seen an injury **inflicted by a modesta.** However, I have seen injuries resulting from running into things - scratches, mostly - that are easily healed with Melafix. I suspect that any placid fish may go nuts with modestas. Clowns will probably have no problems in this regard.

Loaches are known for being individuals, is all. So you really aren't going to know if Roscoe is sweet or a closet aggressor until you put him in a social situation.

Oh, and they will eat small fish - guppies, mollies, small tetras. DON'T say I didn't warn you. Of course, my formerly guppy eating modestas now refuse to go through the trouble of chasing their food now that I've been dropping Aquaricare Earthworm Sinkers in the tank... :-)
