Oh, if you don't like dealing with the tubifex, save yourself the trouble and buy your fish the *real* frozen treat - Hikari frozen bloodworms. These are excellent quality (no bad worms as with some brands), clean, supplemented with vitamins, and eagerly snatched up by every kind of fish I have ever had.

And while they are red and may be "digusting" to you - I don't know your criteria for disgust - they are small enough that you will not have to cut them.

The thing with cutting the tubifex was just because some are so long that they might be difficult for small loaches to eat.
