How can I get my loaches to eat the snails?

This is my first posting here, but I think I've found the right place for me! I am a big loach fan, and have 2 clowns, 2 kuhlis, and 1 horsefaced loach. I bought the clowns not just for their great personalities, but because I have a little snail problem, and read that they would help to clear it up. In the posts I have read here, it seems that that has worked for you, but my loaches don't seem interested. Do I have the right idea that they will eat them? Do I have to squish the snails first? Also, how much time under the gravel is normal for a horsefaced loach? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
