Missing Clown Loaches

This past weekend I introduced two three inch or so clown loaches to my tank. I already had one in there, and wanted several more. The tank is mostly tetras of sorts and one golden gurami. The bottom also has two pepper loaches and three small catfish. I haven't been able to find the new clown loaches since sunday. They're gone. I checked the caves, nothing. The original clown is in there, swimming around, but the two new larger ones are missing. I can't imagine something eating them, since they were basically the largest fish in the tank, any idea where they are? In the gravel perhaps, question is how to find out.
