New Tank Setup.

HI everyone! I need to get everyone opinion on this new tank of mine on what to put in it. PLEEEEEEASE???? It's my grandfather's old tank. It's 48" long, 10" high and 10" wide. I know, the dimesions are very weird but my grandfather built it himself about 50 yrs ago and it still holds water wonderfully. I would like to put a couple of clowns in there but I don't want it to be to shallow for them. I do have another 33 gallon if this isn't a good idea for clowns. The 33 gallon is going to be heavilly planted with livebearers, however so will that be okay for the clowns? I have asked the gentleman at work and he says that either one should be okay for now ( I work in a petstore ) but I really value all of your opinions. Any ideas would be excellent. Thanks Francesca @ Victoria
